Course Update – Lead Cybersecurity Manager
The “Lead Cybersecurity Manager” course provides a comprehensive methodology for creating, supporting, and continuously improving cybersecurity programs based on industry best practices such as the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO/IEC 27032, ISO/IEC 27100, and ISO/IEC 27110. This training course aims to ensure candidates understand and internalize the necessary concepts, procedures, and methods to support organizations in effectively developing, implementing, monitoring, and improving cybersecurity programs.
Here are some important dates:
-
2023-06-28: ISO published a new edition of the ISO/IEC 27032 standard.
-
2023-10: PECB released a training course and exam for Lead Cybersecurity Managers in English and Spanish.
-
2024-01-15: PECB ceased offering training courses and exams for the ISO/IEC 27032 standard in English and Spanish. However, a transitional period will be provided for candidates.
-
2024-03-31: PECB completes the transition to conducting the ISO/IEC 27032 “Lead Cybersecurity Manager” exam in English and Spanish.
Taking the ISO/IEC 27032 “Lead Cybersecurity Manager” exam during the transitional period
If you have completed training, self-study, or distance learning under the PECB ISO/IEC 27032 “Lead Cybersecurity Manager” program but have not taken the exam, you have the opportunity to take the exam for the same version under which you took the course ISO/IEC 27032:2012 until March 31, 2024. After this date, only the Lead Cybersecurity Manager exam will be available for purchase.
Will these changes affect my current ISO/IEC 27032 certificate?
The recent update will not impact your current certification status under the ISO/IEC 27032 standard. If you hold a valid ISO/IEC 27032 “Cybersecurity Manager,” “Lead Manager,” or “Senior Lead Manager” certificate, you simply need to keep your certification status active by submitting CPDs and AMFs. ISO/IEC 27032 Foundation and ISO/IEC 27032 Provisional Credentials of Cybersecurity Manager certificates do not require maintaining status. These are perpetual certificates with no expiration date. ISO/IEC 27032 certificates will continue to be issued as long as applicants have a valid coupon code, but the exam and course are no longer offered.
Will these changes affect PECB trainers approved to conduct ISO/IEC 27032 training courses?
Yes, these changes will affect PECB trainers. Once ISO/IEC 27032 training courses are discontinued and PECB no longer offers them, access to these courses will be revoked for trainers. Considering these updates, trainers will need to complete the “Lead Cybersecurity Manager” training course, pass the new exam, and obtain the corresponding certificate. After obtaining this certification, trainers will be eligible to teach the new training course.
