COURSE DESCRIPTION
This five-day intensive course enables participants to develop the expertise necessary to support an organization in establishing, implementing, managing, and maintaining an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) based on ISO 45001:2018.
Participants will also gain a thorough understanding of best practices used to identify hazards, assess OH&S risks and opportunities, design operational controls, prepare for emergencies, monitor performance, investigate incidents, and drive continual improvement.
This training is aligned with the project management practices established in ISO 10006 and is fully compatible with ISO 31000 (Risk management) and ISO 19011 (Guidelines for auditing management systems). After successfully passing the exam, you can apply for a “PECB Certified ISO 45001 Lead Implementer” credential, recognized in more than 150 countries.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Master the concepts, approaches, methods, and techniques used to implement and effectively manage an OHSMS
- Understand the correlation between ISO 45001 and other standards and regulatory frameworks in occupational health and safety

PREREQUISITES
PECB Certified ISO 45001 Foundation Certification or a basic knowledge of ISO 45001 and experience in occupational health and safety or management systems is recommended.

Day 1: Introduction to ISO 45001 and initiation of an OHSMS

- Section 4: Fundamental OH&S concepts and principles
- Section 5: Understanding the organization, workers, and interested parties
- Section 6: OHSMS scope and OH&S policy
Day 2: Planning an OHSMS implementation
- Section 7: Leadership, roles, responsibilities, and authorities
- Section 8: Consultation and participation of workers
- Section 9: Hazard identification, risk and opportunity assessment
- Section 10: Determination of legal and other requirements
- Section 11: OH&S objectives and planning to achieve them
Day 3: Implementation of an OHSMS
- Section 12: Resources, competence, awareness, and communication
- Section 13: Documented information and management of change
- Section 14: Operational planning and control
- Section 15: Emergency preparedness and response
- Section 16: Procurement and contractor management with OH&S considerations
Day 4: OHSMS monitoring, measurement, and continual improvement
- Section 17: Monitoring, measurement, analysis, and evaluation of OH&S performance
- Section 18: Internal audit and management review
- Section 19: Incident investigation, nonconformities, and corrective actions
- Section 20: Continual improvement of the OHSMS
- Section 21: Preparing for a certification audit
- The “PECB Certified ISO 45001 Lead Implementer” exam (three hours).
